Sweet 16 Preview 2013

    The march continues to Atlanta this week as the NCAA field is narrowed. Some familiar teams and fresh faces will hit the hardwood. Action begins in the nation`s capitol with the Cuse taking on preseason #1 Indiana. Can Tom Crean figure out a way to beat the 2-3 zone? This has been a problem for many opponents of the Orange going way back. This should be a great game and I look for the Cuse in a close one all depending on their ability to continue to shoot the lights out. Game 2 features the Hurricanes yes that`s right Miami, Fla THE U taking on the Marquette Golden Eagles. The Eagles will give you fits but in the end the Canes will overtake them and advance. This same night the bright lights of LA will be lit where The Ohio State University will take the Cats out of the dance. The second game there looks like it should be an NIT game with LaSalle taking on the Shockers of Wichita State. I like Bill Raftery`s alma mater the Explorer`s in a mild upset before they exit the dance on Saturday against the Buckeyes.
     The Friday schedule starts in Indy home of the NCAA where Louisville will show the nation why they are the overall #1 seed when they take down another Pac 12 contender Oregon Ducks. Game 2 is Izzo v. Coach K in a classic March Madness matchup. The Dukies cannot seem to get the job done outside of friendly confines so I look for Sparty in a mild upset to face the Cardinals on Sunday. Finally from North Texas, it is Kansas v. Michigan. The Wolverines may have the most talent in the tourney but unfocused talent does not always get the job done. Kansas does not have any weaknesses and can beat you in many different ways. They will prevail to play Donovan`s Gators on Sunday. Do I like Fla. Gulf Coast? Yes, great story but Florida is too strong and too well coached. It may be close for awhile but they will pull away convincingly as long as they are not looking ahead.
